Been a while

I am truly amazed that you are reading this! Thank you for continuing to check in with us. Our ‘babies’ are now 13, 12, 9 and 7 and it it just speeding by. Hopefully you have seen us on Facebook…my old profile is gregory dale mcdougal…had to move to another… greg mcdougal
Posted a lot of pics and videos there.
We had a really good year last year as our children stayed out of the hospital for a full year and we soaked up every minute. Then in Aug., Sean had to be admitted…then in Dec. both boys had to be admitted for IV Antibiotics. God has blessed us with a Doctor that we can trust. We are so thankful for that!
We have been working on finishing the upstairs bit by bit with a lot of help from our friends. My friend Brent Johnson has been over to help a lot lately. Also met a new friend, Epp Mevin Walls at the ICM Awards Convention. He came down to help for a full week while the boys were in the hospital. If you’d like, you can find him on Facebook and hear his music.
Moved into the downstairs in Nov. of 2010…upstairs is now very close to being ready.
Turns out that Sean has continued to culture an infection in his upper right lobe of his lung and we have been fighting it back over and over again. Doctor now says that we may have come to a time when removal of that upper right lobe would be best. We are…well… just praying for God’s hand in all of it. Truly believing and hoping for one of those before and after kind of reading of the X Ray miracles.
The bible says that Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not yet seen. Well, what do we hope for? What do you hope for? There’s a lot that we hope for in this life. In this crazy life. And the bible says that He is the author and the finisher of our faith. and that it is Him at work in our lives both to do and to will according to His good purpose. I hope for some things that are not yet seen. I believe some things that He has dared me to believe in His word.
But I have a lot of reasons to hope and to believe. We have seen some miraculous things both big and small. Our Heavenly Father has given us so many reasons to believe. So many blessings to count. So much evidence of His word being the truth. The absolute truth!
The bible talks about all of creation testifying to His magnificence.
Have you ever found a patch of dirt that God didn’t make? Now try finding a bit of truth to stand on that He didn’t make.
We are trusting Him! We are hoping in Him. Obviously we are crying out for the sake of our little boy and wanting for him to avoid such surgery. But we are trusting and knowing. Knowing that the last five years alone has shown us that we can trust Him. Trust Him for what? Trust Him that…’It is Him who takes the years that the locusts have eaten and makes them new’ that
‘ He takes what the enemy meant for evil and makes for good’ that He meant it when He said…’Fear Not, for I have redeemed you, I have called you by name…you are mine’…and… ‘You know not the thoughts I have for you…thoughts of peace and not of evil… to bring you to an expected end’
That in Psalms, He tells us over and over that them who put their trust in Him, He will deliver them out of their trouble.
If you are needing comfort in the midst of some real struggles, then go to His word and find truth! If you are in doubt and need reassuring, then go to His word and find truth! Jesus said…’I am the vine and you are the branches. He who abides in me and I in him, will bear much truth but without me you can do nothing’
Lord, please help me to abide in you. To seek your wisdom and truth. To delight in your words. To teach them diligently to my children. To talk of them when I rise up and when I lay down. To lead a life pleasing to you.
I really want to get it right.

Sorry that it’s been so long…

Hey Ya’ll,

It has been a while since I have been here…please forgive me for that. Life is at quite a pace right now. We are out in full time music ministry and God has given us favor everywhere that we have been. At last count we have been in over 350 churches in the last 3 years. Simply singing and sharing about how God has shown so much grace and mercy in the lives of a couple of kids who used to pay Him no mind at all.

We have had ups and downs…but God has shown us that He redeems all things! He has shown us miracles!  I will have to tell you later about that. The kids are waiting on me right now to feed them…( it’s been a full two hours since the last feeding LOL )

We are in the middle of the process of setting up the 501 C 3 for this ministry that God has raised up in our lives. We have already chosen 11 members of the board of directors and  The Work of a Carpenter Ministries will be set up officially in the next 30 days or so. Our focus will be to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ through music, testimony and ‘paying it forward’ types of benevolence . (‘What the Lord Gave me to do’)

You see, we have been in the hospital too many times with our children over the years…and believe me, while we are there caring for our children we still have bills due and stuff to do at home. But there is no time, money or wherewithal to worry about it because our children take priority. But we have learned that through our weakness, He is strong! Everytime that we have been in that situation, God has sent one of His Saints through the door with provision!

‘They will know you are my disciples by the Love you have for one other’

That is our heart! To simply do for others what has been done for us and have been taught to do through that. As we go out in full time music ministry (have you heard our children sing? go to youtube/The McDougal Kids) our desire and vision is to extend a helping hand to other families who have a need. Whether it be a family with a special needs child or not…we have seen the Love of Christ in action through our church family and we know how God has won us over because of it! I have an education that money couldn’t buy as I made a living for my family in home repair and remodeling for almost 10 years and we have already seen how God was using that to prepare us for a time such as this. We have already seen how that experience can be used to help figure out a need for wheelchair ramps, household electrical concerns for medical equipment, general home repairs, HVAC concerns and consulting in air quality for other families diagnosed with asthma, Cystic Fibrosis and other such struggles.

‘Simon, Simon, Satan has asked for you that he may sift you as wheat but I have prayed for you that your faith will not fail and when you have returned to me you will strengthen your brethren’

Our endeavor to build ahouseformykids has been miraculous and life changing. We will write a book in the future to tell about it all. We are moved in to the first floor of this house that God built  and don’t have much to go (relatively speaking ) to get the upstairs done and moved into. (the bedrooms are all upstairs…)

In the mean time we are trying to stay within 3 or 4 hours of Nashville, Tn. as we go out each weekend to sing and share our testimony. If you know of somewhere, then please give us a shout. Every invite is an answer to prayer. PLEASE keep in touch with us here…I will try with all my might to keep you updated here as often as I can. We lived in an RV for a year and eleven months and so we were challenged to get it done during that time.

Our children’s Doctor at Vanderbilt has expressed his desire to admit Sean for 2 weeks of IV Fluid antibiotics on May 6th. Sean is really doing great but because of culturing a miccabacterium last year the doctor does not want to go a full year in between this treatment. Please pray with us against this bacteria as we believe for all of God’s best for our children.

Hey Ya’ll

We are so amazed at God’s mercy! We are living in our bigger, better RV in the driveway of the house.

We have had 2 hospital stays this year. Sean cultured a Micabacteria in his lungs and we are fighting hard to be rid of it!But even through all of that…no especially through all of it God has shown Himself mighty to us.

We are trying to book churches within 3 or 4 hours of Nashville, TN. so we can stay closer to home. God provides for us in such miraculous ways as we simply go and tell of His sweet, generous, mercy and care in  our lives. Them that trust in the Lord…He will deliver out of their trouble.

There are so many people that we need to get Thank You cards out to!  So many churches that we need to contact or re-contact. Our days are full. Our children are growing up so fast.We pray so hard for wisdom to simply get it right.

We are shooting for moving in by the end of July. There is so much to tell about how we have gotten to this point. We will write a book! I will also be recording a video for giving simple guitar lessons. Many folks have asked me about that over the years. Stay tuned for that.

What a different time that we are all living in now…Some of these things must come to pass for all righteousness to be fulfilled.

God redeems ALL things!

He is the only One able to make all of this in this life worth way more than we can. Call us! Email us! Send us a letter!

We would LOVE to hear from you.

So close and yet so far away…

Ask anyone that has built a house and a bunch of them will talk about going over budget…that is where we are. HVAC is in…alot of the hardwood flooring is in…electrical is under way…plumbing is mostly in…tubs/showers are in…house is wrapped with Tyvec house wrap and so it is considered dried in…lots of drainage work has been done to properly manage the water and the slope of the property. We threw alot of money at the water proofing of the basement to be sure that there would not be any leaks. The basement itself was quite an undertaking that turned into double the cost of what we thought it would be. A dozen or more items, each costing hundreds to a couple of thousand, such as gravel…simply added up to us not getting it to completion. We are building quite a house! Did not fully realize the scope of this house until we were dug in and the framing went up. Did we plan, count the cost, and pray about it before…you betcha! (just looks a little different on paper than it does in real life.) This house is the thing that is supposed to help our kids stay out of the hospital as often as they have been. By the way…they have done so much better since we got out of the last rental house where we struggled through several issues such as mold and bad duct work. We believe that we corrected those issues for the land lord while we were there…but not without enduring some hospital stays and even surgery on Sean’s right lung.

We have checked with a couple of banks and they are in lockdown still and have said no to a loan for the 45 to 50 thousand that it will take to get to 100% on this. And so we are firmly and confidently sitting at God’s feet with this house. We are out on the road in full time music ministry going and telling of the incredible Grace that God has had and continues to have on a couple that used to never pay Him any attention at all. Please pray for us…we are homeschooling our kids…we are trying to keep up financially with all of the ‘extras’ that having so much going on at one time brings to the table…meanwhile just working at what it is that God has given us to do. I spend alot of time on the computer now trying to keep the church bookings coming…God is making that happen better all the time. Please let us know if there is a church near you that you can refer us to. The kids are singing in 3 part harmony now and blessing so many people. There is so much to tell you about how God has provided for us on the road…in bookings, finances, safety, His favor, help with our vehicle trouble and so much more. When we began all this 3 years ago…we did not have a disposition towards ministry at all. We were all about selling CDs for our cause. Now this is so about ministry… how God is taking this thing that He has done and is still doing in our lives and using it for so many incredible things in others lives. The guitar and the songs are just the excuse to get in the door to tell people of His great, redeeming love ..we are still so rough around the edges…we still can mess it up big time in some big and small areas (please pray for us in that)…but it is so much who God is in our lives… that He takes broken vessels and pours water into them before they can even hold that water…remember that with God…All things are possible!

Please let us know about coming to a church near you…

We Love our RV!

Dear Friends,

Hello again and once again, we are so grateful to you for the kindness you show us by checking in on us this way.

Right now, we are in a hotel in Mt. Juliet, Tn. waiting on the mechanic to find the problem with the RV. We have had several breakdowns in the last 2 months…but each time God provided! Whether it be sending just the right people to tow us home…or providing a much cheaper rate for this hotel…or simply showing me some little something to increase my understanding of the RV…He provides!

Sean was in the hospital all of last week…had to get IV antibiotics again…but the CT Scan showed his lungs in much better condition than last year…Thank You Lord!  We might be dealing with a reflux issue with Sean…waiting for test results. He got out of the hospital last Fri.  We then ( Sat. night ) set out for Arkansas to sing at 2 Cowboy churches for Sunday…but got to the other side of Nashville and broke down. Got towed home about 3 AM. Our friend Jayc Harold came out to give us an extra ride since we could not fit all of us into the front cab of the tow truck.

We are supposed to be in Oklahoma City right now for The CCM Now Convention…but we must wait on the RV to be fixed.

I got a phone call from The ICM Awards and they asked me to perform on this years ICM Awards show. I will be singing ‘Try A Little Kindness’ with my friend Tommy Brandt.  Pretty exciting!

Diane and I are using this down time and the extra room in the hotel room to get together some tax stuff and some of our bills and budget stuff…pray for us!

Please contact us if you can put in a good word for us with your church so that we can come sing and share our testimony.

We got the electrical panel in at the house…and all of the heavier guage wiring run….now I need to pick up 4 more 250 ft rolls of 14/2 wiring and run wiring for outlets/lights/and switches. I have a bit of the plumbing to finish up…tubs to install…and then we get our framing inspection….once we pass that, then it is insulation and drywall. The only other big ticket item to get done is 12000 dollars for the exterior siding. That will cover the cost of materials for Hardiplank siding/soffitt/facia/ and gutters and for the labor for a warranty approved installer to show up with ladders and walk planks to install it. (Pearce Exteriors )

I have a friend who owns a mill that makes molding and trim work and he said that he will give me what I come to his mill and run myself.

We have most of the hard wood flooring down. I need tile in the bathroom and mud room…I have the toilets…and one vanity…and my friend John Kennedy gave me a bunch of paint that will probably take care of all the prime coat and a few of the rooms finish coat. Probably the trim work too…not sure yet.

For the time being, the ministry work that we are going out to do at churches is how God is providing for our monthly…we are together alot now…thankfully so because that is what is needed now more than ever as the kids get older…homeschool…health issues/treatments…life skills training…( I’m on a learning curve with that one )… laundry…cooking…cleaning…and then there’s just plain ole gettin’ down and playing with them…’While I Still Can’!

My boys are almost 11 and 10 now…they crave every minute that I can push everything else aside and just be Dad to them. My girls I think are growing quicker on me than the boys…every single encounter with them becomes more valuable with each passing day.  If we are not careful…this time with them could try to be nothing but logistics…eat/sleep/treatments/hospital stays/laundry/eat again/fix the RV/ or full of irritation and aggravation because they do not possess the automatic mind reading skills that it takes to behave and respond perfectly in every circumstance.

This is it…no second chances at enjoying this really good and rich time with them while they are still our babies…

‘While I Still Can’

Our dear friend…the late Mr. Van Stevenson…told us years ago…’quit worrying about getting there… just enjoy the ride!’

Dear Friends,

I am writing from the back of our RV as we head down Interstate 75 towards Plant City, Fl. We’re somewhere north of Lake City…the kids are doing their night time treatments. We will be singing and sharing our testimony at New Hope Free Will Baptist Church in Dover, Fl. tomorrow morning.

We had a great week in Mt. Juliet working on the property. We had to get some more gravel for the driveway…all of the rain that we’ve had made it rough to get in and out. We also mapped things out for the Electrician to come in this next week. Randy Groce Electric is who will be coming in to set the box and hook us up. He is a really good man! We also had to make some decisions about the kitchen…Diane was glad that the kitchen cabinets have finally moved up on the list and that we measured some things out and was able to get a better picture of where things are. A friend of ours in Texas is helping us with the cabinets…we are supposed to pick them up when we are down there in September.  ( yes we have a trailer and then I will build the laminate tops )

Any way…God has been so good to us and to be so far on the house and be closing in on getting it done is just so surreal!

There is no way to get Thank yous out to all that we need to…at least not in this season of our lives…somehow, I am gonna write a book about it all…but I still need to get to 100% on the house. The doctors gave us new concerns last week about one of the kids…concerns that, in my humble and researched opinion will improve once we get in the house. Then we will have some kind of shindig. Please forgive me…I gotta go…

Lots of people ask how they can help…until we get drywall up, I don’t know of a way to help at the house. But CD sales are still so important…please tell your friends. And referring us to a church that you know is also a tremendous help. That is what God has given us to do and so that is what we are out doing. Thanks so much for stopping by.

The McDougals on the road in Full Time Music Ministry

Dear Friends,

We moved into the RV onto the property to finish building. That was Jan. 1st. After a few weeks of some of the coldest weather in 10 years and coming to the realization that we had under estimated our plans and went over budget on the house…we took off on the road to sing at some churches. That was the last week of Jan. We went to Kingsport, Tn with Pastor Dan Peterson and Circle J Cowboy church. We had a great time. The following Saturday night we sang in an old time theater in Pulaski, Tn.  It was an incredible venue! The Choir from Pulaski Church of God opened with an amazing performance. I should have opened for them!

Next we went to Etowah, Tn. and sang at Carrie Sneed’s church… Eastview Baptist Church. we then went with them to a nursing home to entertain. It was awesome to see the folks there interact with our kids and visa versa. Thanks to Carrie’s Dad for giving us a portable generator to put on the trailer so that we could use it for treatments while going down the road.

That Sunday night we went to visit some old friends  Harold and Janet Purkey at their church near Knoxville and then we got to hang out with DC Riggs and his family in Knoxville.  During all of this there is the usual feeding of the crew every 2 or 3 hours…treatments, driving, and phone calls  to set up more bookings. So many awesome people have shown so much hospitality.

Next we drove to Archdale, N. Carolina to the Triad Cowboy Church over there. We got within an hour away and thought that we lost the transmission in the RV. Had to nurse our way on in…the church was waiting on us when we got there. Benny McDonald is the music guy there and he was so kind about it all… so was the pastor.  We got up and sang and shared our testimony…it was in a horse arena… it was great and the people really blessed us!

We stayed at Benny’s house for a few days while the RV was being worked on…turns out it was only the clutch fan. Thank you Lord. That was a Tues. night service.  Next we drove to Jackson, Tn. with a short stopover at Tom Luckey’s house to see him and Pastor Chris Smith near Augusta. We got to Macedonia Baptist Church at 5 AM Sunday morning and laid down to sleep. ( we stopped to do laundry on Sat. night and it took longer than we thought so we had to drive that night to make the service the next morning. )  At 6 AM I woke up and got sick…violently sick…oh great! Thought I had the flu! Did so again at 7 AM and at 8 Am. Had to tell the music director… our friend Ted Fontaine… at 8:30 AM that I won’t make the service at 9 AM.  And so we drove on to Fl. with me babysitting a bucket through the day. Ya’ll pray for my wife! She was great at driving and keeping the kids away from daddy while he ‘did his thing back there! ‘  Thankfully it was something I ate or a stomack bug that only lasted through the day. Felt like I got ran over!

Through that week, we got to visit with our family in Florida. Sang at Horse N Tack Magazine’s ranch ‘The Farm’ on that Fri. night along with Danny Ray Harris, Allen Frizzell, David Speegle and Patsy Dollins. Thanks to my good friend Mike Holmes.

The following Sunday morning we were in Darby, Fl. at Darby Community Church with Chris Conti. We then went to Sacred Heart Catholic Church for an annual fundraising lunch and sang for them. That night we wound up with our friends at New Hope Free Will Baptist Church in Plant City, Fl.

The following Sunday, we were in Daytona Beach at Eastside Baptist Church on the day of the Daytona 500. Pastor Bob Hadley is now a lifelong friend and has invited us back for the raceway ministries on July 4th.

On our way back to my brother’s house in St. Joe, Fl. we stopped to look at the Zoo in Dade City, Fl. from the side of the road. There were others there doing the same…catching a glimpse of the Zoo animals from the road side. We got to talking with them and they invited us to sing at their Sunday night service at Blanton Baptist Church just down the road. We did and it was a sweet time…God ordained! The interim pastor turns out to be someone that I had talked to a year ago on the phone…John Cuespert. Ya’ll say a prayer for him and his family. He’s a good man!

The following Wed. night we got booked at the last minute in Lake Panasoffkee and made some new friends there at the church that we sang in. Bill and Lois Owens were wonderful…

We then drove to Mansfield, Ga. to the cowboy church with Tim Partlow on Saturday night. The following morning, we were in Bay Minette, Al. at Healing Waters Church with Pastor Richard Daniels.  Had an awesome time in 2 services…the pastor gave me the whole service for both services to share our testimony and sing. The Kids always sing the Lighthouse…

The following Wednesday, we drove over to Eufaula, Al. to Crosspoint Church there…Got to see some cousins on my Mom’s side. then it was back to Mobile, Al. Stayed in Dan and Denean Workman’s yard in the RV. Dan had an old RV sitting on some property that had an older but working generator that he gave us. Hoping that it would fit into the place on our RV to replace our broken one. We then headed out to Louisiana near Shreveport with Pastor Jimmy Price. He met me with a handshake and another church service that I could also do that night in Henrietta, La. Pastor Clark turned over the service at the referral of Jimmy Price. Every church service that we have done has only been by referral and every service has been an ordained time! Thank You Lord!

I do need to finish telling you about our trip…but there is alot to tell…we’ve got to get out the door to McCloud, Ok. tonight to a Cowboy Church. I want to say to you all that we are simply doing what it is that God has given us to do…so many of you have called and mentioned our faithfulness…but I could never boast of such a thing. I simply don’t know what else I would be doing right now. It is amazing that we are making a living in this economy…but that is simply God’s grace. I don’t know how else to explain except to say that we are exactly where God wants us right now. The Bible says that God is always at work in our lives. He is doing so much in  ours right now! We are being sifted and blessed both at the same time. He is taking what the enemy meant for evil and making it for good. Taking the years that the locusts have eaten and restoring anew. He is redeeming all things. He is making all of this worth a whole lot more than if it were about making music, making a living or just to build a special house for our kids. We are seeing people’s lives touched and changed. We get to be a small part of God tilling up some really hard ground and planting seeds of His richness in their lives. People who were confused and hardened about the things of God can see in person… our family standing as beautiful evidence of how God makes all things work together for good. We used to never pay Him any attention at all! At the mercy of this fallen world…we came up with only calamity! But in the shadow of the Almighty…we have seen miracles and we are shouting from the rooftops of His amazing love!

There is so much more to tell about our trip…please check back by soon…I will really try harder to update this more often.

We are about 70 % done with house…it is God’s house and He will get it finished according to His plan and in His time!

Thanks and we love you all!

Call me Mike Chambers!

In the midst of construction…

Dear Friends,

Hey Ya’ll…man has it ever been hard to keep up with updating this blog…we began clearing and digging the middle of August I think…Greg Dew and Division Two Construction brought out all kinds of heavy equipment to build the driveway, put in the culvert, and dig the house site. I am hoping to get the video clips up on this web site very soon. We are in the process of updating the site.

Then we began with seed and straw…the storm water and erosion control department here in Mt. Juliet asked that we keep the ground stabilized. Our dear friend Jean Canida has been on the job site most everyday and has had her hands on most of the seed and straw. It is awesome to see the difference in the property…it is a rolling field of green now.

Next was the process of tearing up a bunch of that green by digging for the water line, then the sewer line. I just got done on the backhoe digging for the underground electrical conduit from the pole (that MTEMC set halfway back on our property line) to the house. We had to rent a bobcat to clear the property, then to fill in the various ditches, to bring gravel around to various places, to work on the gravel in the driveway. Did I mention gravel? It has taken so much gravel! for the driveway, for the bottom of the ditches, for the concrete slab, and SEVEN loads to go in behind the basement wall after we got the waterproofing done.

Vulcan Materials in Hermitage has graciously given us a special rate for all of our gravel…you know the gravel that we also had to have for the bottom of the pit where the grinder pump goes for our sewer.

That Backhoe that i mentioned earlier…well I have rented one of those several times and then Jeff Brown of Wentworth Plumbing has sent his Backhoe over for us to use. Our friend Jeff Page has let us use his Kabota tractor with a frontend loader and a rake on the back…it has been invaluable for all the misc. stuff on the job.

I also need to say a huge Thank You to Randy and Gigi Burgess. Randy and I met online and he very generously wrote and offered to draw our house plans. We were kinda stuck and needed new plans drawn that showed the basement because it was an add on. Randy drew up a great set of house plans per our design and even helped to correct some technicals that we had originally drawn. Gigi is currently helping me with a website for Greg McDougal.com. Please help me spread the word about Randy’s house plan service…the current economy has affected them too. These are great people!

randyburgess.com

The water proofing came by way of Gerdau/Ameristeel here in Nashville. Jackie Carter cut us a special rate on that…Thank you Jackie…he probably saved us 2 thousand of what would have been a 4 or 5 thousand dollar affair for materials. It is a special membrane that glues to the block wall down onto the footer.

Oh man the footer has been an education. we had to get an engineered plan for the footer…Thank you Mr. David Cartwright and Mr. Dan Moss. The city required an engineered plan to show the size and depth of the concrete…to show the configuration of steel rebar in the footer, retaining wall and basement wall.

Got the steel from John O Hill Materials in Nashville…they delivered it on pretty short notice. Once we got the steel to the job…it had to be laid in the footer and tied together with wire…we hired a crew of day laborers to help that day because we had to get it all done in order to pour concrete the next day.

For all you investors…BUY CONCRETE! We poured 30 yards in the footer alone at 96 dollars a yard…then we pumped 20 yards in the block walls. Thanks to Pepper’s Pump Truck. Wait til you see the video footage of that! It was amazing to see the boom truck operate overhead to get the concrete to where it needed to be. The owner of that company is a real class act!

We roughed in some plumbing in the basement and then had to bring in more gravel…wheel  barrels full of gravel.

Oh, I can’t forget to mention my good friend James Cozart. He is the block laying guru. They came out and in 3 days time they laid alot of block!!!  The walls are strait, level and built with the utmost care!

Randy Groce electric came out to put up our temporary electric pole and is due out anytime to put the breaker panel in on the house. He is a really good man.

John Fisher is a builder here in Mt. Juliet and he sent me an awesome framing crew. In five and a half days they framed up a little over 2500 square feet of house. It was remarkable to watch. Oh yeah, through all of this, I have not been standing and watching…about the time that I thought I could plan to do some specific task…the crew of the day would show up and would need another bag of mortar, boxes of a particular nail for their nail gun…or we would see some change to make to the windows and I would chase that down with builders first source…or we would realize that we were supposed to double up those engineered I joists where the load bearing wall is and the supply company didn’t send them out…had to run over to Hendersonville on a Saturday to buy extra floor joists from the only company open that day…

Painted the adhesive up on the basement walls to apply the waterproofing membrane and it started raining…had to go again the following week after cleaning off the footer…

Cleaning up the jobsite has been a full time thing! Thank you to Jean Canida, Brent Johnson, Christie Lannom, Jayc Harold, Karis Frieson, Carl Jones, and all of their assorted children. I hope and pray that I am not forgetting someone.

The above mentioned crew also were part of moving rock…you know…the rock that I rented the Bobcat again (but this time with the Jack Hammer attachment) to break up the rock out of the footer and various ditches…all of that rock went down to the bottom of the ravine and has created an incredible river bottom look…from the culvert pipe to the other side of the property.

Dale Insulation gave us a great deal on shooting the expaning foam on the inside of the framing. This is just a quarter of an inch layer to seal up everything and will raise the R factor on the regular insulation.

So many have offered to help…it is a real challenge to coordinate it all…Cappi Gibbs is helping with that and so much more…

I really need to get to the business of booking churches for next year…

Kent Heckman is working on creating a short DVD press kit if you will…a commercial that shows where we began and now we’re headed with all of this. God has called us through all of this to go out and be a witness to His redeeming power! To tell how through faith in Jesus Christ, He can take the ‘Years that the locusts have eaten and make them new’

How He can make everything worth something really good in our lives for His glory!

There is still so much to tell…I have to get Jeff’s tractor back to him…and then go to a funeral. Avonnia Alter’s Dad…Dan Ross…passed away this past weekend…I have the priviledge of sing ‘The Work of a Carpenter’ at the funeralhe was a really good man…built hundred’s of houses in his life…never printed up a business card…he was what the bible referred to as one of the ‘Men of reknown’…an artisan who worked with his hands. People waited for a year and a half at times to get him to build their house. Thank you Lord for a man like Dan Ross!

We love each of you and Thank you for being here. Stay tuned!

The House is framed with shingles on the roof!

Dear Friends,

This past week was one that we will never forget! The Inspirational Country Music Awards Show was incredible…Tammy Cochran sang ‘Loving You’ with me and was so awesome! The framers got done with framing, including the porch and getting the windows in. All of this is surreal. The kids are doing great! They are loving the house. Two stories on top of a basement…we will have no trouble filling it!

Soon, I will publish the list of businesses that are helping us to build this thing.

Many of you have asked how you can help…first of all send me an e-mail that I can use to complete my list of those who want to help. Next, once we get the HVAC, electrical, plumbing, insulation and drywall in…then we can do things like prepaint the trim…paint the walls…fill in with gravel next to the basement…there is always clean up…caulking…light fixtures/ceiling fans to put together…etc. I will do my best to get the word out in a timely manner. The organization of it all is a full time job.

I have to help get the kids in bed…

please let us know that you are here. Call me if you have any questions…please continue to pray for us, keep us in mind  to get into a church somewhere so we can tell of God’s mercy in our lives, tell your friends about our cause so that they will come to the website…

God is the great redeemer and He is making all of this worth something! This is so much bigger than us and a house. God has used this little thing to touch people’s lives and to direct our lives toward helping other special needs families! God is good! All the time!

Love you all!

GROUNDBREAKING!!!

Dear Friends,

Please forgive me for not updating in so long. I cannot even update too much right now…but we have broken ground! The driveway is built…the place for the house is dug…the footer is dug and poured…we hope to have the block layer come on Tuesday. There is more to tell now than ever and less time than ever to tell it. We are under way with building some new stuff for the web site also…that is part of the reason why I have not updated in so long. I was not able to log in. We are praying that God will provide a few churches within a couple, three or four hours away that we can go and share our testimony on weekends while we build. In the next couple of days, I will take the time to tell you all of the miraculous thing that has happened, that has allowed us to begin building. Please…I am trying to get a clear picture of how many there are of you that come to check on us here at the blog. Would you please e-mail us at gregmcdougal@ahouseformykids.com and let us know next time you pay us a visit?

We are forging ahead and the mission to set up the non-profit to help other special needs families is more in focus than ever. First…we are building this house and God has gone before us in so many ways. Thanks again for visiting…do you know about the Inspirational Country Music Awards show on Oct. 16th?  Did you know that I will get to sing with Tammy Cochran on the show? Also nominated for Male Vocalist and Songwriter of the Year! Did you know that we are full time music ministry now and traveling out to churches to share about God’s amazing Grace and Mercy in our lives!

I have to get to the property and do a few more things before it gets dark…stay tuned for the full story of God’s incredible provision to build ahouseformykids.com!

God Bless!
